A COUPLE are finally set to open their first permanent fireworks shop after struggles during Covid.
Sue and Jason Moreby, from Halstead, are aiming to open their shop Fury Fireworks this month.
Jason, who has been in the fireworks industry since 1990, previously started a fireworks company in Halstead in the same shop in 1993.
Since then he has fired displays at Braintree Rugby Club and Halstead football ground, as well as displays for John Peel, Green King Brewery, Sudbury late night Christmas shopping and also weddings, parties and festivals.
Sue said: “We met through work and I found I had the same passion for fireworks as Jason.
“Over the past several years we have had a real struggle through the pandemic and now are finally getting our first permanent shop and displays are rolling in.
“We are completely booked out for this year and next year's November but are continuously being contacted for weddings and public events.”
The shop is also working together with the charity of Jade Goody's Cancer Rehabilitation Trust, and is firing a display for the cause this November to raise funds.
Sue added: “We will be selling fireworks anywhere from novelty items, sparklers, glow products, cakes, barrages, rockets, compounds and firing systems for those who wish to have a more professional back garden display.
“We aim to have the shop open mid-September and will be more than happy for people to pop in and see us for any help or inquiries they may have for retail fireworks or professionally fired displays.
“We also offer cold sparks that can be used inside or out for that special moment or beautiful driveway fountains as you drive away from you wedding location.”
Sue has said the response has been positive and they are excited to get up and running.
She said: “On the whole the response has been a positive one with a lot of questions asked.
“We are excited to open the shop as this will be a place for couple to come and discuss there wedding plans so we can make their day extra special with great photo opportunities.”
The shop is located at the Coach House in front of the Townsford Mill, Halstead.
